Jennifer Peterson, LMFT
I'm Jennifer, a fully-licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in the state of Utah. I work from the foundational belief that everyone has trauma (whether large or small) in their past, which becomes a key component in the struggles they face. These core insecurities show up in individual anxieties, couple reactivity, and family conflict, and make life much harder. As such, the therapeutic modalities I use in my practice focus on helping those I work with (1) understand these responses, (2) process where they've come from and what purpose they serve, and (3) learn how to decrease reactivity in their most important relationships. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT for Couples), and trauma-informed interventions to guide the work I do. I believe healing is best found through vulnerability and connection, specifically with an individual's support system. As a result, I love working with all couples, families, and individuals who feel stuck in their current, dysfunctional patterns, and are ready to start progressing and finding healing now.
When I'm not doing therapy, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, learning about things that are important to other people, traveling, appreciating beautiful landscapes and cultures, and crafting.
